Child & Youth Protection
Crossfield Baptist Church Child and Youth Protection Policy1.1. We acknowledge that the abuse of children and/or youth (sexual, physical, and emotional) can happen anywhere, including in this Church or in other facilities used by our church or in activities sponsored or endorsed by our church in ministry.1.2. As a church, Crossfield Baptist Church has established a written, zero tolerance, child & youth abuse policy. 1.3. We do this for several reasons; 1.3.1. We understand that the effects of such abuse have a profound short-term and long-term impact on the victim; 1.3.2. We understand that, as members of this Church, we must ensure that children and youth, who participate in all programs offered through our church, must be able to do so without fear of abuse; 1.3.3. We understand that any abuse, or even allegation of abuse, can seriously compromise our witness for Christ as a church and/or as individuals within our community and beyond. 1.3.4. Children & youth are at risk in our world today. There are few more convenient places than a church, for persons who would prey upon children. 1.3.5. We are obligated by current legislation in Alberta and Canada and by our insurance companies to have in place and follow strict guidelines regarding those who are entrusted to our influence. These are specific details for our policies and procedures that include staff, leadership and volunteer records that comply with our policy, current government regulation and comply with the regulations enforced by our insurers. Further details are available from the church office.
